August Update
7 months ago – Thu, Aug 14, 2025 at 07:53:26 AM

Hello Adventurers!

Welcome back to another Wild Hunt Festival: Chronicles Kickstarter Update! In this post, we’ll be covering a few things: a quick project update, the next Beyond the Hunt, the next story chapter release, and a new Boss Spotlight for the Plant Chimera! So, without further ado, let’s get right into it.

Project Update

It’s only been a month since we wrapped up crowdfunding, but we’ve got plenty of updates to cover! First, the boss arts and cards for An Aria of Light and Shadow are complete! As for the characters, Rui’s card art looks incredible, and we’re just waiting for Haruno to be finalized!

We completed the final text pass on the game a while ago, and we are now working on assembling the finalized assets with those changes in tow.

Lastly, our communications with the printer are going well, so once the finalized assets are done, we should be able to move swiftly into getting our first production sample of the game!

Beyond the Hunt

The next episode of Beyond the Hunt with Jake and Fern will take place on Tuesday, August 19th at 9 PM EST. We have a handful of topics planned for this one. If you’re interested in more lore discussion with some of the new content coming in Dankai and beyond, we’ll have a few things to note on that front. One of the most important topics when strategizing for any boss encounter is what kind of party composition you’ll take into battle, so we’ll spend some time there. And last but certainly not least is a preview of Rui’s complete character art! You won’t want to miss this one!

Story Chapter 3

For those of you who want to engage with more Wild Hunt Festival content right now, we have been updating wildhuntfestival.com and will continue to as we move forward. We recently added a new story chapter to the Tales from Kradia tab, something we plan on expanding with more chapters and more stories, over time. Expect a new chapter roughly every month.

Tales from Kradia is one of our methods of giving you all a unique lens into the world of Wild Hunt Festival. The current story centers on Rui and Haruno (the main characters of the Aria of Light and Shadow expansion) as they undergo training at Parali Academy, but chapter three introduces a few other characters you may recognize as well. The world of Kradia is vast and interconnected, and we want to explore it with you all through a variety of mediums. This is just one way we plan to do that.

We’ll be happy to talk about the stories in WHF with you all during the Beyond the Hunt on Tuesday, so if you want to read up and prepare for that, there might be some hints hidden in those chapters.

Plant Chimera Spotlight

This month’s spotlight will feature the Rampaging Alchemical Beast himself, Plant Chimera! As one of three midbosses that you can encounter throughout your journeys in Dankai Survey Brigade, this one brings about a few obstacles for the party, but his reward is well worth the time you invest in defeating this foe.

Let’s start with the main body. Plant Chimera is a relatively standard boss, considering Wild Hunt Festival’s current roster, but he’s no slouch. His attacks may seem harmless as printed, but every time the boss rolls between 10 and 12, his attacks gain a +2 property on the attack next round! It’s important to keep everyone’s HP topped up when considering what actions to take.

Two unfamiliar symbols we see on this card are the Hazard Meter symbol, which looks like a triangle made out of circles, and the “Clone” symbol.

The Clone mechanic, as mentioned in Plant Chimera’s opening attack bubble, is here! This mechanic functions just like Stellera’s Mirage Crystal for those of you who took on that foe from the base game! The Clone has a new keyword that has been introduced here called [Protection], which will be used for mechanics that function like these two going forward. Be careful not to forget to deal ALL battle participants 1 damage when the Clone reaches 0 HP!

As a reward for defeating this foe, the party will obtain the Chimera’s Mutation Core! This relic is extremely helpful against a certain boss we covered in a previous spotlight! wink wink, nudge nudge. The effect of this relic allows you to bypass an OverDrive or Latent Power effect for the round. There are a multitude of ways to use this relic! Spend it wisely!

Wrapping Up

What an update! For our first communications since the Kickstarter campaign, we couldn’t be happier to bring you good news. If you’re as excited as we are to see Wild Hunt Festival shine, make sure to tune in to the next Beyond the Hunt for all the latest in the lands of Kradia!

Talk to you soon, adventurers!

700% Funded! Thank you!
8 months ago – Thu, Jul 10, 2025 at 09:03:24 PM

Hello Adventurers,

Bradly here, back with your very first post-campaign update! Congratulations are in order! Thanks to all of you, Wild Hunt Festival: Chronicles is officially happening! We're thrilled to bring this game to you, and we are incredibly grateful for the opportunity you've given us.

These past few weeks have been extraordinary, largely due to your passion for and belief in Wild Hunt Festival. We've seen many of you join our Discord, leave comments on the campaign page, and just generally engage in discussions about the game—your enthusiasm undoubtedly influenced others to check out the project, which contributed to a wild last 24 hours of the campaign.

Having surpassed our funding goal by 700%, this project has officially become LionWing's most successful Kickstarter to date! This is the perfect start to Wild Hunt Studios, and given our long-term plans for WHF, we could not have written a better opening chapter for this brand-new creative team with LionWing.

While the campaign was live, we posted a new update every few days. Now that the campaign has wrapped up, we'll continue to post regular updates, just not every two days. We will be posting monthly, sometimes more. In these updates, we'll continue to feature character and boss spotlights as well as post videos (AMAs, playthroughs, etc.) and updates on the production and manufacturing processes. Once we receive them, we'll also post photos of our production proofs, although that won't happen for several months.

The point is, we'll be posting regular updates, including one about our content roadmap for the game (since someone asked about that in the comments section—shoutout to Terry L for that comment).

We'll also be sending out invites to our post-campaign pledge manager in the coming months. In the pledge manager, you'll be able to confirm your pledge (and add any items you may have missed during the campaign) and pay for your shipping. Once we send out the invites, we'll post a step-by-step tutorial on how to finalize your pledge/order.

Normally, we send out the pledge manager invites about four weeks after the Kickstarter ends, however, with shipping being hard to predict right now, the pledge manager invites will be going out much later (as we get closer to print time, so that we can offer the best and most up-to-date shipping rates).

In the meantime, feel free to join us on Discord! We've had a lot of new faces join the server over the last two weeks, and as a result, the place has been rife with chatter about all things WHF, anime, and video games. It's a super chill and down-to-earth group of folks over on the Discord, and they're all extremely welcoming and kind. You can click the image below to be taken to the server directly!

If you'd like to follow us or get in touch through our social media channels, you can find all the relevant links below.

If you have any other questions or comments, feel free to drop us a DM here or on Discord (with Discord, I personally respond and typically respond within just a few minutes)!

Once again, thank you to everyone who showed up and helped bring this project to life. You all are the best.

Until next time!

Boss Spotlight: Baphomet
8 months ago – Thu, Jul 10, 2025 at 07:50:05 AM

Adventurers! Today is the FINAL day to back Wild Hunt Festival: Chronicles on Kickstarter! We have been blown away by your kindness and support these past two weeks, and the team cannot thank you enough for everything.

Going forward, there is plenty more to show off, such as the other Dankai Survey Brigade bosses, the content from Aria of Light and Shadow, as well as the official roadmap for upcoming Wild Hunt Festival content. But for today, let's go over our first Boss Spotlight entry!

For this final update, we will be showing off the poster-boss from Dankai, Baphomet. As one of the final bosses in this game, this horned foe is no slouch. Let’s take a quick peek at his card to find out what makes him tick!

Boss Spotlight: Baphomet

There he is, striking fear into his foes. Baphomet wields a mighty axe and is capable of shattering the ground before you in a single strike. Beware his powerful strikes, and prepare yourself for a battle of endurance, because this boss features another new spin on the OverDrive mechanic. Baphomet’s O.D., Blood Tide, allows him to utilize the crystals growing on his body to restore his HP whenever the current Boss HP lands on an OverDrive space. Spooky!

With all your new shiny relics in tow, there is still one more helping hand the game gives you against a boss this powerful. Making its return from Nightmare Mode, Quests! Baphomet’s extra card allows players to strike at the boss’s weakest points to build up successes and gain the upper hand! While the rewards may not seem substantial at first, if you have watched either of the playthroughs we've done, I can promise you that reducing the Hazard Level can be a huge boon for the players.

Speaking of which, if you wanted to watch either of those, check out the LionWing YouTube channel below!

ALSO! I successfully updated the BoardGameGeek pages for each of the games offered during the campaign. Please consider checking them out, add them to your wishlist, and bear with me while I get our promotional material up there.

Wrapping Up

And that about wraps up today’s update! From the bottom of our hearts at LionWing and Wild Hunt Studios, thank you for an incredible campaign, and make sure to stick around for each update that we post, and chat with us on our Discord and social media!

Talk to you soon, adventurers!

A Closer Look at Dungeon Mode
9 months ago – Sun, Jul 06, 2025 at 01:18:59 PM

Hey everyone! Welcome back to another Wild Hunt Festival: Chronicles update. There are just over 4 days left to back the project, so please share it with your friends, family, and everyone else! I’ve got two big things to go over today, so let’s get right into it!

Livestream Playthrough of Dankai Survey Brigade

First, an announcement. This Tuesday, July 8th, on the 48-hour-to-go mark, we will be livestreaming a playthrough of Dankai Survey Brigade! Be sure to subscribe to theLionWing YouTube channel to be notified when that goes live!

Dungeon Mode

Making its debut in Dankai Survey Brigade is a brand new way to experience Wild Hunt Festival: Dungeon Mode. In Dungeon Mode, players take their four favorite heroes into an ever-changing dungeon to discover powerful relics and defeat even more powerful bosses!

There are two different phases to Dungeon Mode: Survey Mode and Boss Fight.

During Survey Mode, you will lay out a dungeon of cards in a 4x3 grid first, then traverse them vertically. Starting at the bottom, the cards will have various things on them, such as the arrows denoting which of the above cards can be traversed next, and the number at the top left corner, which denotes what page to open the game book to, and read its story entry!

Each story entry will present the players with dialogue, story beats, choices to make, and items to discover! Some events may even require you to have certain items to trade them in for different ones or even perform a check with a die to decide an outcome!

Once you reach the top row of the grid, you’ll face a mid-boss. Which one appears depends on the path you took through the dungeon, specifically, the cards you encountered along the way. To determine the mid-boss, take the ones digit from each numbered card you visited during Survey Mode, add them together, and consult the result. The total reveals which mid-boss you'll battle before pressing deeper into the dungeon!

Fighting a boss happens the same way as in the base Wild Hunt Festival. However, don’t forget that you have some help! Depending on the difficulty you selected at the start of the game, you may have some extra items to assist you in keeping pace with the boss, as well as any relics you obtained during your time in Survey Mode!

After you defeat the mid-boss, you will take another dive through the dungeon, this time using the remaining survey cards that weren’t explored during the first round!

Once you’ve reached the top of this 3x3 grid, the portal event on card #79 will determine your final boss encounter. Prepare yourself for a difficult trial!

Without spoiling too much, each final boss is a real treat to battle with. There is a true final boss, so make sure to keep your eyes peeled for hints on how to encounter it!

Wrapping Up

And that does it for us today! If you'd like to chat with us outside of the campaign page, follow us on our brand-new social media accounts and be sure to check out the new website, as well as join our Discord. Those links are below! We can’t wait to see how the rest of the campaign shakes out, and be sure to check out the livestream on Tuesday evening!

Until next time, adventurers!
